Desire, Action, Determination, and Resilience

Desire drives us to pursue our interests.  We won’t go far if our desire doesn’t become a passion for that which we are striving.  Desire and passion create enthusiasm, which energizes us to act.

If we attain much in life, action is required.  “So what do we do?” asks automobile executive Lee Iacocca. “Anything.  Something.  So long as we just don’t sit there.  If we screw it up, start over.  Try something else.  If we wait until we’ve satisfied all the uncertainties, it may be too late.”

So, what if we fail?

Muhammad Ali, world champion and perhaps history’s greatest boxer and competitor knows what it means to succeed and to fail.

“Only a man who knows what it is like to be defeated,” he says, “can reach down to the bottom of his soul and come up with the extra ounce of power it takes to win when the match is even.”

You will suffer many losses in life, but you must never be defeated.  Pick yourself up, reflect on what you’ve learned, take a new direction, and never give up until you reach your objective.

Failure is never final.
